brachiating
Brachiating suggests architecture that reaches out like interwoven branches, connecting elements across space and time. Rather than static boxes, Steven Holl Architects design buildings as dynamic forms that branch into their surroundings. Holl has described “brachiating time” as well – layering contemporary design alongside historic structures in rhythmic extension. Architecture reaches outward – to adjacent spaces, to natural elements, to earlier constructions – forging continuity and “hybrid contact” that enriches the whole environment.
