To Graduating Architects

Steven Holl gives a video message to graduating architects:

"… I send this message on Earth Day; a reset after a year of reflecting on the importance of human rebalancing regarding nature. . . This year, with new work, and I think there's a lot, I advise you to keep your idealism. Consider each place you make can be a mini utopia of the new. Last week, I asked a house client if they had any further questions, and the husband looked up smiling and asked, 'what is the meaning of life?' 'Architecture!' I shot back immediately, and I said, "an ancient Chinese philosopher once said: 'In life, one must do two things, plant a tree and build a house.' Congratulations Graduating Architects. You must reset the future."
