The chapel sits next to four new houses forming a town square. As a meeting house it could accommodate gatherings such as receptions and concerts, but as a chapel it becomes a place of silence and reflection, accommodating sacred events such as small weddings, vigils, and memorial services.
The dual form of the building, curved and square, recalls the transformation of timber from the cylindrical trunks of the big Douglas firs to their final milled form, rectangular in section. The round tower is inspired by the old saw mill burners, such as the one that existed in Port Ludlow.
