LIGHT AND SPACE AT VILLA PANZA

On May 27, 2023, Steven Holl delivered a lecture at Villa Panza, Varese, organized by Fulvio Irace and Ordine Architetti Varese. The lecture, “Questions of Perception,” titled after the 1994 book Holl coauthored with Juhani Pallasmaa and Alberto Perez-Gomez, featured projects including the Light Pavilion by Lebbeus Woods (born on this day May 31, 1940) at Sliced Porosity Block, Chengdu, China.

Villa Panza houses a renowned collection of contemporary American art exploring light, color, and space, including installations by James Turrell, Dan Flavin, and Robert Irwin.

Holl dedicated the program to Antonia Jannone, who founded Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura in Milan in 1976 and has since organized over 250 exhibitions. Steven Holl: Half Earth is currently on view at Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura through July 14. Visit the gallery website for more information.
