New photos reveal the dramatic cuts, views and space of the new Hunters Point Library in Long Island City, Queens. Formwork for the seventh and final concrete pour is in place for the 22,000 sq. ft. library, which will lead to its topping out in August.
By Spring of 2017, the residents and visitors of Hunter’s Point will enjoy an open community-devoted space along the waterfront, with sweeping Manhattan views floor by floor, open flowing staircases flanked with bookshelves and dedicated outdoor reading areas on the building’s roof and garden entry. At night, the building will shine like a beacon on the East River, illuminating and complementing its neighboring industrial landmarks.
