Steven Holl Lecture Recap + Recording: “Imaginary Causes” in Cyprus

Steven Holl delivered the Panos Koulermos Memorial Lecture to a packed house of over 500 attendees at the Satiriko Theater in Nicosia on March 11, 2026, hosted by the Cyprus Architects Association.

Holl opened the lecture honoring Koulermos with readings of a poem excerpt “Patmos” by Friedrich Holderlin and a quote by John Hejduk on Panos Koulermos:

“Panos Koulermos is in love with architecture and his work proves it. Panos knows about forms, space, and most important, about spirit. Of course, he should because he comes from that part of the world where such things are honored and celebrated.”

Holl’s experimental talk “Imaginary Causes in Architecture” runs through many projects chronologically, identifying each concept that drives the design.
