Steven Holl Interview Published in EGA Journal

Steven Holl was interviewed by Alejandro Muñoz Miranda and Jorge Gabriel Molinero Sánchez for the recent issue of EGA (Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica), an important academic journal based in Spain. The conversation spans 40 pages of the issue and is thoughtfully illustrated with 25+ watercolors.

“Steven Holl’s graphic thinking has given rise to an architectural output that resists typological or formal repetition, instead favoring project-specific responses that are intimately tied to physical, cultural, and atmospheric conditions.”

“In his professional practice, drawing is not only foundational but also functions as a form of critical resistance to the visual and methodological homogenization imposed by today’s digital culture. In this regard, his approach aligns with a disciplinary tradition that regards architectural drawing as an instrument of knowledge, a medium of experimentation, and a conceptual language, capable of operating between the technical and the poetic, the concrete and the speculative.”
